57603 sits at London Paddington in the early hours having terminated with 1A40 2145 Penzance - Paddington 'Night Riviera' sleeper service

Paddington at 0540 is a very empty place on Saturday mornings, a HEX unit sits under the trainshed waiting to shuttle to Heathrow Airport

With a light dusting of snow on the tracks and platform, 165108 prepares to form the 0550 service to Oxford. The third span at Paddington, which encloses platforms 9, 10 and 11 is currently undergoing restoration

165121 sits at Windsor & Eton Central with the shuttle service to Slough, with a full moon lighting up a dark sky

165121 back at Slough after completing its first trip down the Windsor branch

A Paddington bound HST glints in the early morning sunshine at Reading

A busy scene at Reading, as a stopping service operated by a Thames Turbo arrives on the relief lines, 43169 leads the 0745 Paddington - Swansea service in, and a SWT 458 from Waterloo arrives on the third rail platforms

43169 awaits the road towards Swansea at Bristol Parkway, as a Cross Country voyager arrives with the 0910 service to Manchester Piccadilly

43022 brings up the rear of the 0745 Paddington - Swansea service, in bright winter sunshine, as it departs Bristol Parkway, 70004 was parked in the sidings to the left

At Patchway, a few minutes north of Bristol Parkway, 158957, which is running around as a 2 car unit vice 3, departs with a stopping service towards Cardiff Central. The condition of the unit front would suggest this was the centrally coupled coupled in the hybrid 158/9

Owing to a shortage of units, FGW used an HST for a Cardiff - Taunton diagram instead of the booked 150/1. 43065 leads 43027 into Patchway, with the 0900 Cardiff Central - Taunton service

43027 is seen at Taunton, having terminated 9 minutes early with the 0900 Cardiff Central - Taunton service, it would then go on to for the 1107 service back to Cardiff

43027 has recently regained its 'Glorious Devon' nameplate, seen here at Taunton whilst awaiting departure time

Since December, the former class 67 loco hauled diagram has been operated by FGBRf using a pair of class 57s. During the week the set is maintained on the West Somerset Railway and then returns to Cardiff Canton for the weekend. 57312 is seen in Taunton platform 6 preparing to form the ECS towards Cardiff
