4277 leading 5239 makes light work of Goodrington bank whilst working the 1245 Paignton - Kingswear services, during the Heritage Weekend. This being the first official double headed working on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam railway for many years. Sadly both facing the wrong way!

5239 rounds the curve near Greenway Tunnel whilst working the 1330 Kingswear - Paignton demonstration freight train, also a rare operation, not appearing since the diesel galas of the 90s. Long may it continue!

Another photo of the working passing through the cutting as it heads upgrade towards Churston. However, making light work of the gradient. These locos formerlly being used to haul heavy coal trains in South Wales.

5029 "Nunney Castle" rounds the curve as it nears Churston passing the class 03 shunter whilst operating the brake van rides.

5029 "Nunney Castle" failed whilst working a charter to Par a few weeks back, and were sent to the P&DSR for repairs. This allowed it to be used to the Heritage Festival gala. Looking and sounding fantastic whilst displaying the Torbay Express headboard the Castle completes it's long climb from Goodrington with the 1400 Paignton - Kingswear.
Updated 10th May 2009

On the second day of the Heritage Festival 5029 "Nunney Castle" operates its final journey towards Kingswear, storming up Goodrington Bank with the 1615 Paignton - Kingswear service, the Torbay Express headboard once again on show. This is the first visiting loco to operate on public services for the railway since 60009 "Union of South Africa" spent a few weeks on the line back in 2005.
